Airports


The IRPUD European airport database contains 581 airports of international, European and regional importance following the airport classification of the Trans-European Transport Network Outline Plan, Section Airports as specified in Decision 1692/96/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council.

The airport database contains, inter alia, the following point attributes (see Data Formats):

 - country code
 - airport identifier
 - airport name
 - TETN classification
 - IATA airport code
 - ICAO airport code
 - location (x, y coordinates)

The map shows the airports categorised by their international and national importance. International airports are displayed with a red symbol, European airports are displayed with a black symbol and regional and access airports are displayed with a blue symbol. Although the Outline Plan covers only the member states of the European Union, some additional important airports in the rest of Europe are also shown (as black dots). The airport database contains more airports of lesser importance not shown in the map.
